Policy Champions appointed to spearhead the sensitisation and implementation of key university policies at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) have held their inaugural meeting.
The meeting brought together champions selected to support awareness creation as well as the implementation, monitoring and review of five university policies; the Scientific Misconduct Policy, Procurement Policy, Internal Audit Operating Manual, ICT Policy and Security Policy.
The appointment of the champions forms part of efforts by the university's management to ensure that both staff and students are aware of university policies and apply them in the discharge of their responsibilities.
The champions comprise Prof. Eric Tutu Tchao, Head of the Department of Computer Engineering, Prof. Gabriel Nani of the Department of Construction Technology, Mr. Emmanuel Afful - Director of University Information Technology Services (UITS), Mr. Duke Agyeman Fredua - Director of KNUST Procurement Office, Mr. Kennedy Hinneh of the Institute of Distance Learning, Mrs. Millicent Owusu Nyako of the Security Service and Mrs. Rita Oduro Kuffour of UITS, who serves as Member/Secretary.

The Lead Policy Champions and Head of the Department of Computer Engineering, Prof. Eric Tutu Tchao, underscored the importance of increasing awareness and engagement with university policies.
"It is important that we sensitise both staff and students and generate interest in the various university policies. Awareness is critical because policies can only achieve their intended purpose when members of the university community understand them and apply them in their daily responsibilities," he said.
The Policy Champions resolved to work closely with stakeholders across the university to promote understanding of the policies and encourage compliance
The champions will also submit quarterly progress reports to the Vice-Chancellor through the Quality Assurance and Planning Office (QAPO) on activities undertaken and progress made in advancing policy implementation.
The initiative is expected to strengthen policy compliance and enhance institutional governance across the university.
